Govt orders appointment of separate MD for MESCO

PUNE: After 16 years of establishment of Pune-based Maharashtra Ex-servicemen Corporation (MESCO) which aims to provide employment to retired soldiers, the State government has ordered an appointment of a separate managing director for MESCO.

Since it was set up in 2002, the director of Department of Sainik Welfare (DSW), Pune, has been holding its additional charge as managing director.

MESCO is working in 35 districts and has bagged 375 contracts. It has provided employment to about 10,500 ex-servicemen till date. Also, MESCO Career Academy (MCA) in Satara has trained more than 9,032 youths from all over Maharashtra.
