Pune, 16th October 2025: The future of travel is here and it's electric. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday unveiled India’s first heavy-duty electric truck with a swappable battery, developed by Blue Energy Motors in Pune. Calling it a “revolution on wheels,” he said the innovation will redefine sustainable transport in India.
"The electric truck by Blue Energy Motors is a revolution on wheels. Considering its technology and efficiency, this sector is poised for major expansion in the coming years. The Maharashtra government will fully support the development of new electric and battery-swapping corridors," Fadnavis said.
During the launch event at Nighoje near Pune, Fadnavis announced that the state government is committed to providing full support for the development of additional electric vehicle (EV) corridors, akin to the Mumbai-Pune Electric Corridor, aligning with the government's green mobility vision.
Fadnavis noted that heavy vehicles contribute majorly to carbon emissions, and Blue Energy's innovation marks an important step toward achieving India's 'Make in India' and green transport goals.
The Chief Minister also highlighted that the first phase of production will include 10,000 trucks, creating employment and reinforcing Maharashtra's position as the preferred destination for industrial investment. Fadnavis reaffirmed the state's dedication to renewable energy, stating that by 2035, solar power will fulfill 75 to 80 percent of Maharashtra's energy requirements.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the Blue Energy Motors initiative was among the initial projects to come to fruition from the agreements established at Davos, signifying tangible advancement in drawing sustainable industrial investments.
"It is a matter of pride that the concept, design, and production of this advanced technology are entirely developed in India - and that too in Maharashtra and Pune," he mentioned, noting that the project stems from the Memorandum of Understanding(MOu) signed with Blue Energy Motors at the World Economic Forum in Davos earlier this year.
The event included Amit Gorkhe, Mahesh Landge, Babaji Kale, Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey, Blue Energy Motors Managing Director Anirudh Bhuwalka, Dhirendra Shastri (Bageshwarbaba), Prashant Ruia, Anshuman Ruia, Amit Bajaj, and Kaustubh Dhavase, along with several others.
