Pune, 15 July 2025: Heavy rains have intensified once again over the Konkan and Western Maharashtra regions, with Pune, Satara, and Raigad districts experiencing relentless downpours. The ghats have been receiving continuous heavy rainfall, and even Pune city and its surrounding areas have been grappling with persistent showers since morning, disrupting daily life.

With weather conditions worsening, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Pune for the next three hours.

The alert warns of very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms in the ghat areas of Pune and Satara. District authorities have urged citizens to remain alert and take necessary precautions in view of the deteriorating weather.

In Raigad and Ratnagiri, rivers are swelling due to the incessant rains. Mahabaleshwar in Satara has witnessed heavy rainfall since last night, leading to a rise in water levels of the Savitri and Gandhari rivers. This has raised concerns about possible flooding in the downstream areas such as Mahad, Poladpur, Mangaon, and Goregaon. Accordingly, local administrations in these towns have been asked to remain on high alert.

Meanwhile, Sangameshwar in Ratnagiri is also witnessing heavy rainfall, causing a noticeable rise in the water level of the Shastri River. If the downpour continues at this pace, authorities warn that flood-like conditions could emerge in the region.
