Pune, 15 November 2025: Pune’s Hinjawadi IT hub once again came under the scanner after Pimpri-Chinchwad Police uncovered two fake call centres involved in large-scale fraud targeting American citizens.

Acting on specific information received by Police Commissioner Vinaykumar Choubey, two police teams from the Cyber Police Station and Crime Branch Unit 2 raided the illegal operations and arrested four key individuals.

Those arrested include call centre owners Sagar Kumar Yadav (32) and Dhananjay Sahebrao Kasar (25), along with managers Anand Pankaj Sinha (29) and Harshad Shankar Khamkar (28). Police have also registered cases against 18 employees from both centres. The accused were produced in court and have been remanded to police custody until November 18.

According to police, employees at one call centre pretended to call from the “medical department” in the US. They told American citizens that certain medicines could cause cancer and collected personal details of those who had used them.

Victims were then lured with promises of compensation and legal support. The collected information was sold to US-based law firms, from whom the accused received commissions in US dollars.

The second call centre, named Sky High Solutions, falsely posed as representatives of US financial institutions. Callers promised easy loans, obtained bank details via links, and then claimed the victim’s credit score was poor. To “improve” the score, they demanded money through gift vouchers and dollar payments.

During the raids in different parts of Hinjawadi Phase I, police seized computers, laptops and other electronic equipment used for the fraudulent activities. Investigations are underway to determine the total amount earned through these operations and whether more people are involved.
