Pune, 3rd July, 2025: After being shut for years due to encroachments, the vital road connecting Hinjawadi Phase 2 – Wipro Circle to Marunji’s Laxmi Chowk is finally being reopened for traffic. The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), under the guidance of Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase, has initiated a joint operation in coordination with various departments to clear the encroachments and revive the road.

This development is expected to ease daily traffic congestion in Hinjawadi, which has been a major concern for local residents and thousands of IT professionals working in the area. The road’s reopening is being seen as a significant step toward resolving long-standing infrastructure issues and enhancing overall civic connectivity in the region.

Hinjawadi frequently experiences heavy traffic and waterlogging due to unseasonal rains, making the situation worse for daily commuters. With this road back in use, a notable reduction in congestion is anticipated.

Meanwhile, IT professionals have been actively voicing their concerns. In a recent move, a hard copy of the online petition titled #UnclogHinjawadiITPark,  which has garnered over 23,000 signatures on Change.org within just a week,  was submitted to MLC Amit Gorkhe. The petition highlights the urgent need for better infrastructure and sustainable traffic solutions.

In light of these growing demands and the area's recurring flooding problems, the Maharashtra government has now directed relevant planning and industrial authorities to conduct a detailed hydraulic analysis and explore the implementation of an efficient storm-water drainage system in Hinjawadi.
