HSC certificates not to use the remark ‘Fail’

ST CORRESPONDENT

PUNE: The State government has decided that certificates of Std XII students will no longer have the ‘Fail’ remark. Instead, they will state ‘Eligible for re-exam’ for students failing in one or more subjects along with the grade, in the upcoming Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) results from the February-March examination 2020 onwards.

The previous State government started this initiative for students failing to clear the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination last year.

Further, if the students fail in one or two subjects in the supplementary examination held in July 2020, they will again get the ‘Eligible for re-exam’ remark.

However, if the student has failed in three or more subjects along with the grade subjects in the supplementary examination also, they will be marked ‘Eligible for only skill development programme’.

A GR released by the State Government in this regard stated that the Board needed to strictly follow the revised remarks and not use ‘Fail’ in any circumstance.
