Crime News: Women Molested in Hyderabad-Pune Bus; Accused Arrested Within 24 Hours

Hadapsar Police arrested the accused within 24 hours of the complaint; A chargesheet has already been filed in court following preliminary investigation

Pune, 13 February 2026: A shocking incident of molestation has come to light during an overnight bus journey from Hyderabad to Pune. A woman passenger was allegedly sexually harassed inside a private sleeper coach travelling towards Hadapsar.

The incident occurred on the night of February 9 when the bus departed from Kachiguda in Hyderabad around 10 pm. According to police, the woman was travelling with her husband on a sleeper berth.

In the early hours of the morning, the accused, identified as 47-year-old Nishitkumar Yashwant Singh from Mira Road, Mumbai, allegedly touched her repeatedly inappropriately, causing distress and outrage to her modesty.

After the complaint was lodged, Hadapsar Police promptly registered a case and launched an investigation. Acting swiftly, the team arrested the accused within 24 hours.

Police conducted a spot panchnama, recorded statements of witnesses, and collected the passenger list from the bus operator. A video recording of the incident from the victim’s mobile phone has also been seized as evidence.

The investigation was carried out under the guidance of senior officials, including Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar and other senior officers of the Pune Police. Authorities confirmed that a chargesheet has been filed before the court following the arrest.
