I will take my decisions on my own: Gaikwad

Pimpri: Mamata Vinayak Gaikwad (26) who won the honour of becoming the youngest ever chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation announced that she would take her decisions on her own and will not rely on others for the decision making process. This is her first term to be elected as a corporator from for the first time in 2017 civic polls.

While expressing her gratitude towards the party, she said that she would work honestly for the welfare of the people. 

She added, "I will work honestly and will give preference to water supply schemes and infrastructure work in the city. I shall work hard to ensure that the projects under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) are implemented on time."

Gaikwad's husband Vinayak was a corporator of NCP during the last term. He is a known supporter of BJP city unit chief and MLA Laxman Jagtap who changed the camp with Jagtap.

Vinayak Gaikwad was also a member of the Standing Committee during NCP rule. 

Hailing from Dapoli taluka, Mamata has studied till Class X. She was a homemaker before joining politics. 

After winning post of chairperson, Gaikwad said, "During my tenure, I shall emphasise on the completion of pending work in the city. In the future, various citizen-centric projects will be implemented "
