According to eyewitnesses, the woman, clearly under the influence of alcohol, arrived at the riverside and sat near the water, repeatedly saying that her mother was calling her. The Khadakwasla dam is currently releasing water into the river, making the situation even more dangerous.

With Ganeshotsav approaching, several dhol-tasha troupes were practicing near the river. Some members and locals noticed the woman’s erratic behaviour and her attempt to step into the flowing water. Recognizing the potential danger, they quickly informed the police.

Pune Police responded swiftly and reached the scene just in time. Officers managed to take the woman into custody before any harm could occur. Thanks to their timely intervention, a major mishap was averted.
