Pune, 22 June 2025: Pune once again witnessed a wave of devotion as the palkhi processions of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj and Sant Tukaram Maharaj left the city on Sunday, moving towards Pandharpur amid the chanting of “Dnyanoba Mauli Tukaram” and “Pundalik Varde Hari Vitthal.” Thousands of Punekars gathered on both sides of the roads to catch a glimpse of the sacred padukas (footwear) of the saints and to bid farewell to lakhs of Warkaris heading to Pandharpur.
Early Sunday morning, Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj’s palkhi set out for Saswad at 6 AM, while Sant Tukaram Maharaj’s palkhi departed for Loni Kalbhor at 7 AM. Yogi Niranjannath, chief trustee, drove the chariot of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj, while Dilip Maharaj More and Ganesh Maharaj More led Sant Tukaram Maharaj’s procession.
The Warkaris, organised in Dindis, sang bhajans and Abhangas, filling the air with continuous Harinama. The atmosphere was lively as locals, who had served the Warkaris for two days, gathered in huge numbers to offer a warm send-off.
Near Shinde Chhatri, an aarti was performed for Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj’s palkhi, followed closely by Sant Tukaram Maharaj’s procession. Food arrangements were made at various points along the route, and the reduced volume of loudspeakers allowed the sound of devotional songs to be heard clearly.
As both palkhis reached Hadapsar after their halt in the city, devotees from surrounding areas like Wagholi, Kharadi, Mundhwa, Kondhwa, Pisoli, and others assembled for darshan. Beautiful rangolis adorned the resting spots. Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj’s palkhi halted near the main bus stand at Gadital, while Sant Tukaram Maharaj’s palkhi paused at the flyover on Solapur Highway.
Crowd management by the municipal corporation and police ensured that citizens could have darshan in an orderly queue. Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj’s palkhi resumed its journey towards Saswad at 10:45 AM, while Sant Tukaram Maharaj’s palkhi continued on Solapur Road at 2:15 PM, both processions echoing with chants of Mauli’s name and the devotion of countless Warkaris.
