Pune, 7th July 2025: A major fire broke out in the early hours of Monday at a commercial building in the Gaothan area of Ramwadi in Pune's Nagar Road. The blaze, which reportedly started around 1 AM, quickly engulfed six two-wheelers parked outside the premises, sending thick smoke billowing into the upper floors and triggering panic among residents and occupants.
According to Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) officials, the fire department received an emergency alert shortly after the flames were spotted. Fire tenders were rushed to the location, and firefighters worked efficiently to contain the blaze before it could spread into the commercial spaces inside the building. The fire was brought under control after a prompt and coordinated response.
With smoke filling the staircases and corridors, a rescue operation was swiftly launched to evacuate people from the upper floors. Fire officials confirmed that nearly 100 individuals, including residents and workers in the building, were safely brought out without any injuries. The quick evacuation ensured that there were no casualties.
Preliminary reports indicate that the fire might have originated from one of the parked vehicles, although the exact cause remains under investigation. Fire officials are now conducting a detailed probe to determine how the incident occurred and whether any negligence was involved.
While the fire caused significant damage to the two-wheelers, the building itself remained structurally unharmed. Residents and shopkeepers expressed relief and gratitude toward the fire brigade for their timely response. In the aftermath, authorities have once again urged property owners to install and maintain proper fire safety systems to avoid similar incidents in the future.
