Pune, 25th June 2026: As the investigation into the murder of businessman Ketan Agarwal continues, the family of accused Chetan Chaudhary has claimed that he has been falsely implicated in the case.

Chetan, who is alleged to have been in a relationship with Agarwal's fiancée, Siya Goyal, was arrested along with Siya for the alleged murder at Lohagad Fort on June 18.

Speaking to ANI, Chetan's father, Babulal Chaudhary, maintained that his son had no role in pushing Agarwal off the cliff. He said Chetan had told the family that he was standing some distance away when the incident took place, while Siya was closer to Agarwal.

Babulal added that he did not know what exactly happened but insisted that his son was innocent and was being falsely framed.

Babulal said Chetan had only informed the family that he was leaving for a meeting and had not shared any further details. He also claimed that neither he nor other family members knew Siya Goyal before the case came to light and that they had only learned her name after the police investigation began.

He further alleged that the police initially told the family that the matter was related to fraud and assured them that Chetan would be released soon. However, Chetan was later arrested in connection with the murder investigation.

Chetan's uncle, Udayram Chaudhary, also defended him, saying the media was presenting only one side of the story. He described Chetan as a straightforward sportsperson with no previous complaints against him and said the family was unaware of his relationship with Siya.

According to Udayram, Chetan broke down when they briefly met him and repeatedly maintained that he had been falsely implicated.

Despite the family's claims, Pune Police have booked 20-year-old Siya Goyal and 22-year-old Chetan Chaudhary under Sections 103 and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for murder and criminal conspiracy.

Both were produced before a court and remanded to seven days of police custody as investigators continue to probe the alleged pre-planned killing of Ketan Agarwal.
