Accident or Murder?

Agrawal died on June 18 after falling into a gorge while trekking at Lohagad Fort in Pune district. The case was first registered as an accidental death by Lonavala Police. However, investigators soon noticed several suspicious circumstances that prompted a deeper probe.

CCTV Footage Reveals Mysterious Hooded Man

The breakthrough came during an examination of CCTV footage from the fort area. Police spotted a young man following Agrawal and his fiancée, Siya Goyal, at various points during their trek. What caught investigators’ attention was the man’s unusual appearance.

Despite temperatures touching around 33 degrees Celsius, he was wearing a hoodie pulled low over his face, a mask, and large headphones, making it difficult to identify him.

Further analysis of the footage revealed suspicious interactions between Siya and the hooded man. In one clip, Siya suddenly turned around and looked behind her, following which the man quickly crouched down.

In another instance, while Agrawal and Siya paused during the trek, the man stopped at a distance and appeared to receive hand gestures and eye signals from Siya without Agrawal noticing.

Call Records Expose Secret Relationship

These observations led police to intensify the investigation using technical evidence, including call detail records and digital communication data. During the probe, officers found that Siya had been in frequent contact with a man identified as Chetan Chaudhary.

Investigators discovered that Siya and Chetan had met at a Diwali party last year and had developed a close relationship that later turned into a romantic affair. Technical analysis showed that the two had exchanged more than 2,000 phone calls over the past six months, with many conversations lasting for hours.

Police Uncover Alleged Murder Conspiracy

Police then compared Chetan’s photographs and social media profiles with the CCTV footage. Based on the visual similarities and other technical evidence collected by Lonavala Police and the Local Crime Branch, investigators tracked him down and detained him for questioning.

The investigation eventually led police to conclude that Agrawal’s death was not an accident but a pre-planned murder allegedly carried out by Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary to remove an obstacle in their relationship.

A senior police officer said that certain circumstances in the case appeared suspicious from the beginning, prompting investigators to examine the evidence more closely. The CCTV footage and technical analysis ultimately helped uncover the alleged conspiracy behind the killing.
