MIT ADT Univ goes carbon neutral

PUNE: MIT Art, Design and Technology (MIT ADT) University Campus at Rajbaug, Loni, Pune has announced its mission to be carbon neutral under Smart Campus Cloud Network (SCCN) project of TERRE Policy Centre to mainstream Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by Internet of Things (IoT) which was launched recently.

The project of SCCN is supported by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), Paris and Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).

Regional Director of UNESCO, New Delhi, Eric Falt, Director of Skill Development Cell in All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) and MHRD Lt Col Kailash Bansal, Founder, President and Managing Trustee of MAEER MIT Group of Institutions, Vishwanath Karad, Executive President of MIT-ADT University, Mangesh Karad, Vice Chancellor of MITADT University, Sunil Rai, Chairman of TERRE Policy Centre Rajendra Shende, Founder Director of TERRE Policy Centre and Former Director of United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Vinitaa Apte, were present.

Mangesh Karad pledged for transforming the MITADT University campus Smart and Carbon Neutral under the initiative Carbon Neutral University Campus of SCCN. A core group of students and the faculty will now develop a road map for carbon neutrality.

SCCN will create awareness about climate change, renewable energy, energy conservation, water management, waste management, air pollution and sustainable transport, stated an official release from the institute.
