Pune, 23rd June 2026: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has officially declared the arrival of the monsoon in Pune after 12 days delay. After a spell of pre-monsoon showers on Sunday, weather conditions remained largely dry on Monday, but the monsoon's entry is expected to bring more rainfall activity across the city and district in the coming days.
According to the IMD, Pune district will witness thunderstorms, lightning, and light to moderate rainfall over the next three to four days. A Yellow Alert has been issued for the district, indicating the possibility of weather conditions that could cause localized disruptions.
The forecast has come as a relief for residents who have been dealing with hot and humid conditions over the past few weeks.
The arrival of the monsoon has already led to a noticeable drop in temperatures. Pune’s maximum temperature fell from 36°C on Sunday to 33°C on Monday, while the minimum temperature settled at 23.7°C. Cloudy skies throughout the day also helped reduce discomfort caused by the heat.
For Tuesday, the weather department has predicted a maximum temperature of around 33°C and a minimum of 23°C. The sky is expected to remain partly cloudy during the afternoon and evening, with chances of light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning.
From Wednesday onward, temperatures may dip slightly further, with the maximum temperature likely to hover around 32°C. Similar weather conditions are expected to continue, with partly cloudy skies and occasional rain showers, marking the beginning of a more active monsoon phase in Pune.
