Pune Highway Superintendent of Police Shivaji Pawar said the closure has been imposed as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of commuters. Traffic on both the Pune-bound and Mumbai-bound carriageways will remain suspended until further notice.

Authorities have appealed to travellers to avoid unnecessary journeys between Pune and Mumbai and postpone their travel plans until road conditions improve. Commuters have also been advised to follow official traffic advisories for the latest updates.

Police said the restrictions have been put in place solely to protect public safety as heavy rain continues to affect the region. Officials are monitoring the situation and will review road conditions before deciding to reopen the routes.

The administration is expected to issue further updates once the weather improves and the affected stretch is declared safe for vehicular movement.
