The incident, which took place in Nasrapur village under Rajgad Police Station limits, had triggered outrage across Maharashtra. To ensure effective prosecution, the Maharashtra government has appointed Advocate Ajay Misar as Special Public Prosecutor for the case. Advocates Suresh Gaikwad and Pramesh Shigne will assist him during the trial.

Special Court for Fast-Track Hearing

As per court directions, a special court has been set up to hear the case. The proceedings will take place before the District Judge-6 and Special Sessions Court. The accused will be produced before the court under heavy police security.

The court is expected to conduct most of the hearings in-camera in order to protect the privacy of the victim’s family and maintain confidentiality in sensitive aspects of the case.

Investigation Completed in 14 Days

Police completed the investigation within just 14 days of the crime and submitted a detailed 1,100-page chargesheet before the court. The chargesheet reportedly includes forensic science laboratory reports, CCTV footage, medical examination reports, witness statements and other technical and chemical evidence collected during the probe.

Investigators also used modern technology extensively during the investigation to gather and strengthen evidence linked to the case.

“The police completed the investigation within just 14 days and filed the chargesheet. Now, efforts are being made to ensure a speedy trial and secure strict punishment for the accused. Along with delivering justice to the victim’s family, the objective is also to send a strong message against such crimes in society,” said Special Public Prosecutor Adv. Ajay Misar.
