CM Devendra Fadnavis Seeks Strictest Punishment in Nasrapur Rape and Murder Case

Young girl killed in Nasrapur, Police held the accuse within 90 minute; swift police action sparks calls for fast-track justice

Pune, 2nd May 2026: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has strongly condemned the killing of a young girl in Pune district, calling the incident deeply disturbing and unacceptable.

He expressed condolences to the victim’s family and said the state government will push for a fast-track trial and seek the strictest possible punishment for the accused.

The incident took place in Nasrapur and has triggered widespread anger across the region. According to Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Sandeepsingh Gill, the child was found murdered under disturbing circumstances.

Police acted swiftly after receiving information and immediately launched an investigation. Using technical evidence, they identified and arrested the accused within just 90 minutes.

A case has been registered at Rajgad Police Station under relevant sections of law, including provisions meant to protect children, and further investigation is ongoing.

The incident has led to protests in Nasrapur area, with citizens demanding strict action. Police have appealed for calm and urged people to cooperate with the investigation.

Officials also said the accused had a criminal background, with cases registered in 1998 and 2015, though he was acquitted earlier. Authorities are working to file the chargesheet at the earliest and pursue the case in a fast-track court.
