Pune: The city will observe ‘No Honking Day’ on December 12, an initiative of Life Saving Foundation.

Puneites bear the sound of vehicles honking at least a crore times a day. It is reported that 90 per cent of it is unnecessary honking. Laughter therapy club Navchaitanya Hasyaparivar, Life-Saving Foundation along with Pune Police (traffic department) has decided to observe December 12 as ‘No horn day’ in the city. The initiative has been organised on Saturday to promote the concept of ‘No Honking Day’, informed Devendra Pathak of Life Saving Foundation in a press conference.

Navchaitanya Hasyayog Pariwar’s Makran Tillu said, "There are signboards of no-honking near hospitals and schools but many people do not take those as a serious affair. Just to remind the importance of the same, we are creating this awareness and appeal all Puneities to join the same.” Amid the coronavirus outbreak in the city, the main event will be online this year and a representative awareness program will be held on Saturday at noon at Tilak Chowk (Alka Talkies Chowk).
