PUNE: On noticing that the orphaned children were facing difficulties pertaining to their documents for taking admissions under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, the State Government has reiterated the rules that the documents of orphanages should be considered as valid documents for these children.
To promote inclusivity in the RTE admission process, the government has also ordered provisions to be made in the admission portal as well as SARAL database.
While the State Government, in 2018 itself, had made changes regarding the rules regarding admissions of the orphaned children under the Right to Education Act, it had been observed that many were not being followed effectively.
If not known to the students, the option of ‘not known’ will be made available while selecting in sections like middle name, last name and religion.
In the category section, ‘Orphan’ option will be available for the students to select.
As far as the documents are concerned, the documents provided by orphanages and remand homes must be held valid.
The students will also not be asked to produce income certificates.
The GR issued by the State Government for the same has also mentioned that in case, the student gets adopted after getting admission, the provision to make changes to the last name and upgradation of the information shall be facilitated.
