Pimpri-Chinchwad: Bouncers to provide security for YCM Hospital

Sakal Times News Desk

Pune: Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) will appoint 12 bouncers including four women to provide additional security to patients, doctors and medical staff at the Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial (YCM) hospital – a dedicated Covid-19 hospital of the PCMC – for the next two months.

A proposal in this regard has been prepared and will be presented for approval to the Standing Committee of PCMC on Wednesday (August 5). Since the hospital security issue is an ‘emergency case’, the tender process will not be implemented for hiring the bouncers on a temporary basis. PCMC Commissioner Shravan Hardikar has given his approval for this proposal and after the standing committee approves it, the appointment of bouncers will be done.

An agency named ‘Protection Power Bouncers’ has submitted the proposal to the PCMC. As per the proposal, remuneration of Rs 25 thousand per month for bouncer has to be given by PCMC. Total 12 bouncers – four women and eight men – will be deployed at YCM hospital for the next two months. Total Rs 6 lakh expenses will be incurred by PCMC for this additional security cover at the hospital.

The agency has submitted the proposal to PCMC Additional Municipal Commissioner Ajit Pawar. He has instructed the agency to provide bouncers – one woman and three men – in three shifts per day for the next two months.

Doctors at YCM hospital had protested on July 27 morning alleging mistreatment by a corporator Sandeep Waghere on the night of July 26. After the protests, PCMC Commissioner Hardikar had assured the protesting doctors that additional security will be provided to them.

Waghere had denied all allegations against him saying that the doctors who protested were post-graduate students whose appointment on permanent basis at the hospital was opposed by him and thus they were targeting him.

The doctors and corporator Waghere had entered into an argument over alleged medical negligence in the case of one patient Kaushalya Kudale who was admitted to YCM hospital on July 23 and succumbed to Covid-19 disease on July 26.
