Pimpri-Chinchwad: NCP Corporator Javed Shaikh dies due to COVID-19

Pimpri: Yet another corporator from the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) died due to coronavirus pandemic on Friday.

The deceased corporator Javed Shaikh from Akurdi succumbed to the COVID-19 infection, He lost his life in a private hospital. Javed Shaikh was serving as a corporator from Akrudi "A" ward of PCMC jurisdiction limits.  Shaikh was one of the most loyal political leaders of the National Congress Party (NCP) and his demise is a major loss not only for dear ones but also for the party as this is the second death from the same political party in PCMC. Shaikh had contested corporation election thrice and had won all the three times as corporator. He also served as Mayor of PCMC as well as worked as a standing committee chairman for the PCMC. On July 16, Shaikh was transmitted with corona and tested positive. Initially, he was undergoing treatment in a private hospital based in Akrudi but his health started deteriorating. he was immediately shifted to Pune based Ruby Hall Clinic but died while undergoing treatment at the hospital on Friday.

On July 4, senior NCP corporator Datta Sane who had won thrice from Chikali area and former coroporator Eknath Thorat also died due to the novel coronavirus.
