According to Additional Municipal Commissioner Omprakash Divte, around 5,000 polling stations will be required across the city this time to ensure easy access for voters. The process of site inspection for polling booths will begin soon.

A meeting was held at the PMC office to review pre-election preparations. The discussion focused on ward-wise planning, booth-level arrangements, and responsibilities of concerned officials. Deputy Commissioner Arvind Mali has been assigned to oversee the polling station setup. The administration will also review polling booth data from the previous assembly elections and create new ones where necessary.

To increase voter turnout, the Election Commission has directed that polling stations be located close to residential areas for public convenience. Following these instructions, the PMC will soon begin physical inspections to finalize suitable sites.

In an effort to eliminate past discrepancies in voter lists, the corporation will this time use software to divide and verify the lists accurately. Previously, manual data handling had led to errors such as names of family members appearing in different wards or missing entirely. The new system aims to ensure clean and precise voter records, Divte said.

The PMC expects to complete the verification and booth finalization process in the coming weeks as part of its broader election readiness plan.
