Pune, 28 October 2025: The long wait for the Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) ward reservation announcement is finally over. The State Election Commission has declared the schedule for the reservation lottery, which will determine which wards are reserved for women and various social categories.
According to the official schedule, the lottery for the preliminary reservation will be conducted on November 11. Citizens will have time to file their objections and suggestions until November 24. After reviewing these inputs between November 25 and December 1, the final reservation list will be announced on December 2 and published in the state gazette.
The upcoming civic elections will elect 165 corporators from 41 wards in Pune. Of these, 50% of the seats, 83 in total, will be reserved for women. Furthermore, 22 seats will be set aside for Scheduled Castes, 2 for Scheduled Tribes, and 44 for Other Backward Classes (OBCs).
Before the lottery, civic officials are required to finalize the number of reserved seats and submit proposals to the Election Commission between October 30 and November 4. The formal public notification of the draw will be issued on November 8.
Once the reservation list is finalized, the political landscape in Pune is expected to take shape, revealing who will contest from which ward and who may lose their chance due to reservation reshuffling.
