Pune, 19 December 2025: Ahead of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday announced its first list of candidates for the city. The Pune city unit of the party declared 25 candidates for the 2025–26 civic polls during a press conference.
AAP state spokesperson Mukund Kirdat said that municipal elections have remained pending for the past three years, while established political parties have been preoccupied with alliances, break-ups, and power struggles. He said Pune, once known for its strong cultural and educational identity, is increasingly being associated with crime and accidents.
Kirdat stated that AAP aims to present a credible alternative through issue-based politics. He added that the party will contest the PMC elections independently and focus its campaign on everyday civic concerns such as traffic congestion, access to healthcare, quality education, and ensuring a fear-free city for residents.
