Pune, 4th December 2025: Pune’s road repair efforts have gained momentum over the past month after Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishor Ram instructed the road department to launch an intensive pothole-repair drive across all 15 ward offices.

Despite widespread complaints about uneven roads, poor patchwork and potholes troubling commuters, the civic body has now reported significant progress.

The special drive, inaugurated on November 3, 2025 at the Sanas Ground, was carried out across Pune’s old city limits, covering nearly 250 square kilometres. According to the road department, a total of 2,989 potholes were repaired within a month.

In areas where roads had multiple potholes and repairing them individually was not possible, workers scraped off the top damaged layer using JCB machines and laid fresh asphalt. This resurfacing covered nearly 1,89,000 square metres at around 1,800 locations.

The municipality spent close to ₹15 crore on the work, with each ward office receiving an average of ₹1 crore. Most of the repairs were carried out during night hours, which helped avoid traffic disruption and ensured better quality, said road department head Aniruddha Pawaskar.

The Road Mitra app received 3,904 pothole complaints, out of which only 34 are currently pending. Officials said that even potholes not listed on the app were fixed after discussions with local residents.

Pawaskar said the department worked at full capacity to improve road conditions and will continue the repair efforts in the coming months. Commissioner Naval Kishor Ram added that Pune’s roads had deteriorated badly, which is why the campaign was launched, and the administration is committed to providing better facilities to citizens.
