Pune, 28 June 2025: Ongoing traffic congestion has become a serious issue for both motorists and local residents in areas like Hinjawadi, Maan, Mhalunge, and Marunji. Due to delays in land acquisition, road development projects have been stalled, causing inconvenience.

Taking note of the situation, PMRDA Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase has directed the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) to urgently send a proposal regarding land acquisition to the District Collector’s office.

The issue was discussed in a review meeting held on Thursday at the PMRDA’s Akurdi office. MLA Shankar Mandekar, local farmers, and officials from various administrative departments attended the meeting, where Dr. Mhase emphasized the need to address the bottlenecks delaying the expansion of crucial roads, particularly the Maan Road.

He instructed that a detailed report on the number of farmers’ lands required for acquisition should be prepared immediately and submitted to the District Collector.

The meeting also addressed concerns raised by farmers regarding compensation, valuation, and the challenges in the TDR (Transferable Development Rights) process. Dr. Mhase assured that no farmer would suffer any financial or social loss due to the road-widening project.

He added that the administration must act swiftly and ensure the rights and interests of farmers are protected before moving ahead with any acquisition-related process.

In an effort to ease traffic congestion in the region, PMRDA has also approved several new internal and alternate roads. Work on these routes is expected to begin soon. These roads are part of a broader traffic management strategy for the rapidly developing Hinjawadi belt, which houses major IT parks and residential hubs.

The meeting was attended by MLA Shankar Mandekar, PMRDA Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase, Additional Commissioner Deepak Singla, Director of Planning Sunil Marale, Chief Engineer Rinaz Pathan, Land and Property Officer Himmat Kharade, as well as representatives from MIDC, the Public Works Department, and other key government agencies.
