Pune, 9th June 2026: In a major effort to tackle persistent traffic congestion around the Hinjawadi IT Park, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has initiated plans to develop four new link roads connecting key areas such as Hinjawadi, Maan, Marunji and Wakad.
According to PMRDA Chief Engineer Shivprasad Bagdi, land acquisition proposals for all four projects have been submitted to the district collector's office. Construction work will commence once the acquisition process is completed.
One of the projects involves widening and upgrading the Mhalunge–Hinjawadi Phase I road. The existing seven-meter-wide stretch will be expanded to 24 meters and developed over a length of 2.2 kilometers, improving access to the IT hub.
Another proposed road will connect Surya Hospital, Thakar Vasti and Maan village. Planned as a 24-metre-wide corridor stretching 3.74 kilometers, the route is expected to serve as an important alternative road for commuters travelling between Hinjawadi and nearby residential areas.
PMRDA also plans to develop the Marunji–Shani Mandir (Wakad) road. The 3.25-kilometre-long stretch will be widened to 24 meters, enhancing connectivity between rapidly growing residential and commercial zones.
Additionally, a new 36-metre-wide road linking Nande and Maan will be developed over a distance of 1.5 kilometers. The project is expected to improve east-west connectivity and offer commuters more route options in the expanding Hinjawadi region.
The proposed road network is part of PMRDA’s broader strategy to strengthen infrastructure around Pune’s largest IT corridor and provide long-term relief from traffic congestion in the area.
