Pune, 13 October 2025: The Poona Merchants Chamber will kick off its yearly Ladu-Chiwada Sale, a cherished Diwali tradition, on Tuesday, October 14. The event will be attended by District Collector Jitendra Dudi and Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar.
Now in its 38th year, the program aims to provide around 200,000 kilograms of ladus and chiwada at reasonable prices, making sure that festive snacks are accessible to all. Chamber president Rajendra Bathiya noted that since it began nearly four decades ago, the initiative has consistently received robust support from the residents of Pune.
The snacks will be distributed through 23 centres in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. They come in appealing one-kilogram and half-kilogram packages, priced at ₹190 and ₹100 respectively.
The Ladu-Chiwada initiative has earned notable recognition over the years, including mentions in the Limca Book of Records and the Guinness Book of World Records. This year, it has also been featured in the International Book of Records and India’s World Records during the Chamber’s Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.
Recently, the London Book of World Records acknowledged the initiative, and the official certificate will be presented during the inauguration ceremony.
