Pune, 14 March 2026: A new Transit Mail Office (TMO) was inaugurated at Pune Airport on Friday to strengthen postal logistics and improve the handling of mail consignments in the region. The facility is expected to enhance the speed and efficiency of mail movement through the airport.
According to the Airport Authority of India (AAI) Pune, the newly established TMO will streamline the processing and transit of mail consignments. The initiative is aimed at improving end-to-end services for customers while ensuring smoother handling of postal shipments.
Officials said the facility comes at a time when the demand for faster logistics services is increasing, particularly from businesses and e-commerce companies. The new office is expected to play an important role in supporting this growing demand.
Director of Postal Services Abhijeet Bansode said the opening of the Transit Mail Office marks an important step in strengthening postal infrastructure at Pune Airport. He added that the facility will help improve the speed, reliability, and efficiency of mail processing and logistics management.
Pune Airport Director Santosh Dhoke said the initiative will also strengthen coordination between airport authorities and postal services. He noted that the facility will streamline the handling and transit of mail consignments while supporting the region’s growing logistics and connectivity needs.
