Pune Set to Experience the Magic of Indian Classical Music at ‘Anhad’ Festival

“Two days of performances by Padma Shri artists and rising stars will celebrate the richness of Hindustani and Carnatic music in Pune.

The air in Pune is set to hum with the soulful strains of Indian classical music as Anhad, a two-day festival by SPIC MACAY, brings together virtuosos of Hindustani and Carnatic traditions for evenings of melody, rhythm, and harmony on 27 and 28 March 2026 at Shakuntala Jagannath Shetty Auditorium, Kalamadi School, Erandwane.

The performances will begin at 6 PM on both days, and entry will be free to the public. The festival will feature leading artists from both the Hindustani and Carnatic classical traditions.

On 27 March, Carnatic violinist Vidushi A. Kanyakumari, a Padma Shri and Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee, is scheduled to perform, followed by Hindustani vocalist Pandit Venkatesh Kumar of the Kirana Gharana, also a Padma Shri recipient. On 28 March, Carnatic vocalist Abhishek Raghuram, recipient of the Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar, will perform, along with a flute recital by senior flautist Pandit Ronu Majumdar, who has been honored with the Padma Shri.

The opening evening will feature the legendary Carnatic violinist Vidushi A. Kanyakumari, Padma Shri and Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee, followed by a performance from Hindustani vocalist Pandit Venkatesh Kumar of the Kirana Gharana. On the second day, Carnatic vocalist Abhishek Raghuram, recipient of the Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar, will take the stage, accompanied by a flute recital from internationally acclaimed Pandit Ronu Majumdar.

Founded in 1977 by Dr. Kiran Seth, SPIC MACAY is a volunteer-driven movement promoting Indian classical music, dance, and arts among youth, with thousands of programs held across India over five decades.

The festival promises two evenings of musical brilliance, showcasing the depth, nuance, and beauty of India’s classical traditions while offering audiences a rare chance to experience these performances up close.
