Pune: Asaram Bapu supporters protest after PM Modi lands at Serum Institute, Three arrested

Pune: Supporters of Asaram Bapu staged protests in front of the Serum Institute of India (SII) after Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed at the vaccine manufacturing facility at Hadapsar on Saturday (November 28) evening. Police have arrested three persons in connection with these protests.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Rishikesh Suhas Devare, Santosh Hiralal Shejwal and Santosh Devare. All three suspects belong to the Yuva Seva Sangh organisation based in Pune. The protesting supporters demanded the immediate release of Asaram Bapu who has been lodged in jail since 2013.

Yuva Seva Sangh has written the following letter -

Asaram Bapu was arrested in 2013 on the complaint filed by a teenage girl from Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanpur. She had accused him of sexually assaulting her at his Jodhpur ashram. The victim was a student at Asaram's ashram.
