The issue was raised by the Pune Shramik Patrakar Sangh, which had urged Union Minister of State Murlidhar Mohol to intervene and prevent the closure of the historic news unit. The journalists' body highlighted the division’s contribution to journalism, its legacy, and its strong connection with listeners across Maharashtra.

Acting on the representation, Mohol met Ashwini Vaishnaw and conveyed the concerns of journalists and listeners. Following the discussion, Vaishnaw said, "The Pune Akashvani news division will not be closed, and its news bulletins will continue to be broadcast as scheduled".

Speaking about the importance of the station, Mohol said, "Pune Akashvani has a proud history and continues to serve millions of listeners across Maharashtra who rely on its news bulletins. We conveyed the sentiments of journalists and listeners to the Union Minister, who responded positively and assured us that the news service will remain operational".

Vaishnaw further said, "The government is not only retaining the Pune Akashvani news division but is also working to modernize Akashvani’s services. Efforts are being made to strengthen local news coverage and ensure that more region-specific content reaches listeners".
