Pune, 15th June 2026: A 19-year-old autorickshaw driver was allegedly robbed by four youths in Upper Indiranagar under the Bibvewadi police station limits in the early hours of Friday. Police have detained a youth and a minor in connection with the case, while a search is underway for their two accomplices.
The victim, Siddheshwar Mundhe, a resident of Ambegaon Budruk, lodged a complaint with the Bibvewadi police on Saturday morning. According to police, the incident occurred around 3.30 am when Mundhe was driving his autorickshaw through Upper Indiranagar.
The four accused, who were travelling on a scooter, allegedly followed Mundhe and asked him to stop his vehicle. After he stopped, they threatened him and demanded money. When he refused, the group assaulted him and forcibly took control of the autorickshaw.
Police said one of the accused got into the driver’s seat and started the vehicle. The group then took away Mundhe’s mobile phone and ₹300 cash before fleeing towards Kondhwa with both the scooter and the autorickshaw.
Investigators examined CCTV footage from the area and launched a search operation. Based on the evidence gathered, police detained a youth and a minor boy on Sunday. According to officials, both are school dropouts. Efforts are continuing to locate and arrest the remaining two suspects.
