Pune, 24 December 2025: Police uncovered a prostitution racket at a lodge in the Baner area of Pune after conducting a raid and rescuing women who were allegedly forced into sex work. A case has been registered against four individuals, including the lodge manager, under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act (PITA).
The arrested accused has been identified as Prakash Gyaneshwar Gaikwad (24), a resident of the lodge located in Laxmannagar, Baner. Police have also named Balu Subhash Chaudhary, Ajitpal Jitendrasingh Gadhoke, and an alleged agent known as Roshan in the case.
According to police, they received specific information that prostitution was being carried out at a lodge in the Laxmannagar area of Baner. The accused allegedly lured young women with money and compelled them into sex work.
To verify the information, police sent a decoy customer to the lodge. After confirmation, a raid was conducted on the night of December 21, leading to the rescue of the women.
The action was carried out by a police team led by Inspector (Crime) Alka Sarg, following instructions from Senior Police Inspector Chandrashekhar Sawant. The complaint was filed by police constable Rohit Pathrut at the Baner Police Station. Further investigation in the matter is ongoing.
