Pune, 29th September 2026: A fire broke out at the Bank of India building near Shagun Chowk on Laxmi Road on Tuesday afternoon, causing panic in one of Pune’s busiest commercial areas. The fire originated in a bank office located on an upper floor of the building, prompting an immediate response from the Pune Fire Brigade.
After receiving information about the blaze, the Pune Fire Brigade rushed its teams to the spot. Initially, six fire tenders were deployed to tackle the fire. As the firefighting operation progressed, the number of fire vehicles was increased to seven.
Firefighters, working under the supervision of the Chief Fire Officer, launched an operation to control the flames and prevent the fire from spreading to other parts of the building.
The fire damaged parts of the bank office, while firefighters continued efforts to bring the situation under control. The incident caused concern in the surrounding commercial area due to the building's location on the busy Laxmi Road.
No deaths or injuries had been reported at the time of the latest update.
