Pune, 1st May 2026: The Census 2027 process has officially begun in Pune, marking the start of the crucial nationwide data collection exercise at the city level. The first phase, which focuses on self-enumeration, is now underway from May 1.
Leading the initiative, Pune Divisional Commissioner Dr. Chandrakant Pulkundwar completed his self-enumeration online. Through this step, he set an example and encouraged citizens across Pune to actively participate in the process.
He appealed to residents to provide accurate and complete information, noting that census data is essential for effective governance, planning, and welfare schemes. Citizens have been advised to carefully fill in their household details and verify the information before final submission.
The self-enumeration phase will continue until May 15. During this period, citizens can log in to the official portal and submit their details online from the comfort of their homes.
Following this, a second phase will be conducted from May 16 to June 14, during which enumerators will visit households across Pune to collect detailed information. Authorities have urged residents to cooperate with officials to ensure smooth and accurate data collection under Census of India.
