Pune: Center for Biopharma Analysis (CBA) facility at the Venture Centre, a technology business incubator hosted by the National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), was inaugurated by Dr Renu Swarup, Secretary of Department of Biotechnology on Friday (August 14) via video conferencing.

The Center for Biopharma Analysis (CBA) will support the National Biopharma Mission (NBM) launched by the Union Government. It will provide high-quality analytical services for biopharmaceutical developers and manufacturers.

Dr Swarup, while inaugurating the facility said, "The CBA will play an important role in supporting bio-pharma innovations from academic and government research labs, start-ups and many Indian companies. It will also advise on studies needed for regulatory approvals. This can help speed up the development process."

Prof A K Nangia, Director of NCL said, "NCL is keen to contribute to the large molecule therapeutics revolution waiting to happen in India as it did for small molecule therapeutics in 1970-80s."

Mr Prasanta Biswal, CEO of International Biotech Park Limited said, "We look forward to working closely with Venture Center and BIRAC in positioning the Pune Knowledge Cluster for excellence in biopharma and med-tech development and manufacturing."

On the occasion, Dr Himanshu Gadgil, Director of Enzene Biosciences Pvt Ltd also delivered a talk on 'Era of Biopharmaceuticals: India Perspective' under the BioPharma talk series.
