Pune city ranks first in Ease of Living index

Pune: In a list released by the central government on Monday which ranks the cities in the country based on the ‘ease of living’ parameters, Pune city has ranked first, beating Navi Mumbai, Greater Mumbai and Tirupati, leaving them behind in various parameters. The list was released along with the ‘Swach Survey’. 

The list, ranks cities based on the parameters like Governance, Culture, Health, Safety and Security, Economy and Employment, Housing and inclusiveness, Public Open space, Power Supply, Water, Transportation which are a part of 19 such parameters, which signify the efficiency of the administration of a city and determine how a city fares when it comes to habiting it. 

Pune ranked first in the list, performing excellent on parameters like Governance, Education, Economy, Public Open Space, Water Supply, Solid Waste management and Reduced pollution. However, the city performed in an unimpressive manner in parameters like Identity and Culture, Housing and inclusiveness,Mixed land use and compactness and transportation and mobility, signifying a huge need for development in these aspects.
