Pune, 20th August 2026: A case has been registered against a Pimpri-based man for allegedly posing as a representative of the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) and using forged documents to obtain government facilities, causing an alleged loss of around ₹20 lakh.
The accused has been identified as Dharmendra Brijlal Sonkar, a resident of Pimpri.
According to the complaint, Sonkar was not a representative of the NCBC for Maharashtra and Goa but allegedly falsely claimed to hold the position. He reportedly created a fake letterhead in the name of the commission and submitted it to the Pune District Collectorate.
Using the forged document, he allegedly secured unauthorised access to a government rest house in Lonavala and obtained other government facilities.
The complaint also alleges that Sonkar received escort services from Pune Rural Police by presenting himself as a commission representative. He allegedly used the false identity and documents to mislead the Collectorate and other government departments.
Authorities estimate that the alleged misuse of government facilities and services resulted in a loss of approximately ₹20 lakh. A case has been registered against Sonkar, and Bundgarden Police are investigating the matter. Further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
