Pune, 26 March 2026: The National Restaurant Association of India (Pune chapter) has urged immediate restoration of commercial LPG supply, citing severe disruptions to the city’s restaurant sector.

The association stated that restaurants are heavily dependent on LPG, and continued supply interruptions could force many establishments to shut down. This would not only impact business owners but also threaten the livelihoods of thousands of employees and disrupt food availability for citizens.

During the meeting, NRAI members pointed out that several restaurants have already been forced to temporarily close due to the shortage. They noted that similar disruptions have been reported in other parts of the state as well, indicating a wider supply issue affecting the entire hospitality chain.

The association emphasized that the restaurant sector plays a crucial role in the city’s daily food ecosystem, and any prolonged disruption could have serious economic and social consequences.

NRAI Pune head Sayali Jahagirdar said the discussion with the administration was positive. The authorities assured that LPG supply would be restored in phases over the coming weeks.

District Collector Dudi also advised restaurant owners to consider pipeline gas connections as a long-term solution. The need to accelerate projects by Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited was highlighted during the meeting to ensure a more stable and sustainable energy supply for the industry.
