Pune: Cop involved in land and financial dealing suspended

Pune: Police Havaldar Sunil Sudam Pawar - presently posted at Bund Garden police station - has been suspended from service after his involvement in an 'encroached land at Baner and financial dealing related to it' was revealed during a departmental enquiry.

Some anti-social elements with criminal antecedents had encroached upon a land plot situated at survey number 33/2/1 in Baner. The total area of the land plot is 23.10 guntha which is worth crores of rupees at the present market rates.

Amol Pandurang Kalamkar, a resident of Madhavbaug Society in Baner, had filed a complaint on January 11 regarding this encroachment. Deputy Commissioner of Police Pankaj Deshmukh was enquiring into the matter.

Meanwhile, Rishikesh Bartakke had also filed a complaint against Pawar. Audio and video recordings of Police Havaldar Sunil Pawar's involvement in the financial dealings related to the encroached land plot were given to DCP Pankaj Deshmukh. A detailed statement of Bartakke against Pawar has been recorded by police. Based on the department enquiry findings, Pawar has been suspended from service with immediate effect. DCP Sagar Patil has issued the orders in this case.
