Pune Crime: Man Arrested After Creating Ruckus at Police Station to Free Arrested Friend

Accused allegedly threatened to set Sahakarnagar Police Station on fire, damaged property and abused police personnel; A case has been registered against him for obstructing public servants from performing their duties, criminal intimidation and vandalism

Pune, 3rd August 2026: A young man allegedly entered Sahakarnagar Police Station and created a disturbance while demanding the release of his friend, who had been arrested in another criminal case.

The accused allegedly abused police personnel, threatened them and damaged property inside the police station before being taken into custody.

Police have identified the accused as Vinayak Dattatraya Bhondwe (24). A case has been registered against him based on a complaint filed by Police Naik Maruti Nalawade.

According to police, Bhondwe entered the investigation room at around 1 pm on July 30, where officers were monitoring the custody of accused Shubham Bhaskar Lokhande. He allegedly shut the room's door and demanded that his friend be released immediately.

When police refused, Bhondwe allegedly threatened to set the police station on fire if Lokhande was not released. He also abused police personnel, kicked the investigation room door and attempted to disrupt official work.

Police said Bhondwe further damaged property by breaking paving tiles in the police station premises. He also allegedly misbehaved with a woman police officer and issued additional threats against police personnel, escalating the situation inside the station.

He was subsequently detained, and a case has been registered against him for obstructing government work, criminal intimidation and damaging public property.

The investigation is being conducted by Police Inspector Sandeep Khandagale. Police are examining all aspects of the incident and have initiated further legal proceedings against the accused.
