Pune Crime: Woman Dies After Jumping from Window During Police Raid at Viman Nagar Spa

Manager seriously injured; Eyewitnesses alleged delay in shifting the injured to hospital; senior police officials denied the claim

Pune, 24 February 2026: A young woman died after jumping from a window during a police raid at a spa centre in Viman Nagar on Monday afternoon. The incident took place at a spa located in the City Space building around 3 pm.

According to police, a team from Viman Nagar Police Station conducted a raid at the spa centre. When officers knocked on the door, which was locked from inside, a woman and the spa manager allegedly panicked and jumped from a window in an attempt to escape.

The woman, identified as Sankita Mukherjee, suffered a severe head injury and died during treatment. The manager sustained serious injuries to his leg and is currently undergoing treatment.

Police said four other women present at the spa were rescued during the operation.

Following the incident, an eyewitness claimed that police personnel remained at the spot for nearly 20 minutes and did not immediately shift the injured to a hospital.

However, senior police officials denied the allegation, stating that both the injured woman and the manager were taken to the hospital without delay.
