Pune, 3rd June 2026: A shocking murder case has surfaced in Wagholi, where a 26-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her live-in partner following repeated disputes over suspicions about her character.
The victim, identified as Rehana Khatun, originally from West Bengal's Medinipur district, had been living with the accused, Ravi Sameer Vairal, in the Avhalwadi Road area of Wagholi.
According to police, the couple had been facing frequent conflicts for several months as the accused allegedly doubted her fidelity.
Police said an intense argument broke out between the two on May 28. During the quarrel, the accused allegedly assaulted Rehana and murdered her. In an attempt to conceal the crime, he reportedly left her body inside the house, locked the premises from outside, and fled.
The incident remained unnoticed for several days until residents of the building detected a foul smell coming from the locked residence. They informed the police, who rushed to the spot and broke open the lock. Upon entering the house, officers discovered Rehana's body.
Based on a complaint lodged by Imran Rajesab Bodle Khan, Wagholi Police have registered a murder case against Ravi Sameer Vairal and launched a search operation to trace him.
Senior police officials, including Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr. Prashant Amritkar, Assistant Commissioner Nutan Pawar, and Senior Police Inspector Nandkumar Gaikwad, visited the crime scene. The investigation is being led by Assistant Police Inspector Vijay Chandan of the crime branch.
