Pune, 30th July 2026: Cyber fraudsters duped four Punekars from different parts of the city of nearly ₹46 lakh by luring them with fake stock market investment schemes and online task-based earning opportunities. Separate cases have been registered at Baner, Wagholi, Vimantal (Airport), and Fursungi police stations.
In first case, a resident of Balewadi High Street was promised unusually high returns on stock market investments. Believing the offer, the victim transferred money but later realised it was a scam after losing ₹7.22 lakh. A complaint filed by the 42-year-old victim led Baner police to register a case.
In another incident, a 27-year-old man from the Airport police jurisdiction was convinced that his investment had generated a profit of ₹30 lakh. Fraudsters then sent him a fraudulent investment link and cheated him of ₹10 lakh.
Similarly, a 29-year-old man from Yewalewadi received fake screenshots showing impressive stock market profits. After clicking on a link shared by the accused and investing money, he lost ₹12.15 lakh. Fursungi police have registered a case.
In a separate case, cyber criminals targeted a woman from Wagholi by claiming she could earn ₹4,000 to ₹10,000 per day in commission by purchasing products on behalf of the e-commerce platform Meesho.
Trusting the offer, the 39-year-old woman transferred money but was ultimately cheated of ₹4.32 lakh. A case has been registered at Wagholi police station.
The latest incidents highlight the growing sophistication of cyber fraudsters, who continue to target even educated individuals using fake investment platforms, fabricated profit screenshots, and fraudulent online earning schemes.
Police have urged citizens to verify investment opportunities and avoid transferring money through unknown links or unverified platforms.
