Pune, 21st July 2026: Light rainfall since the last three days in the catchment areas of the four reservoirs supplying water to the city has led to a slight increase in water storage.

According to the latest data, the combined storage in Khadakwasla, Panshet, Varasgaon, and Temghar dams has reached 18.02 TMC, which is 61.81% of the total live storage capacity.

  • Panshet: 67.26%

  • Varasgaon: 61.85%

  • Temghar: 44.40%

IMD Predicts Rainfall to Intensify

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a increase in rainfall activity across Maharashtra over the next few days. Pune is expected to remain under cloudy skies with intermittent showers at the beginning of the week.

Rainfall is likely to become more widespread and moderate from Thursday (July 23), bringing favourable conditions for further improvement in reservoir levels. The dam catchment areas are also expected to receive good rainfall during this period, which could significantly increase water storage.

With reservoir levels showing improvement and more rainfall expected, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has cancelled the planned water supply cuts until July 22.

Officials are closely monitoring rainfall and dam inflows, and continued showers over the coming week are expected to provide additional relief to the city's water reserves.
