Pune, 2nd April 2026: A major drug racket has been uncovered in Pune, exposing how delivery platforms are being misused for illegal activities. The accused allegedly used the Porter delivery app to distribute drugs in the Warje and Uttam Nagar areas.
The case came to light during an investigation by Uttam Nagar Police. Sunil Rathod, a history-sheeter, was detained in connection with another case, during which his involvement in drug trafficking was revealed.
Police recovered mephedrone (MD) from his residence, confirming the illegal operation. Further investigation showed that the accused used delivery services to supply drugs to customers across the city.
Along with Rathod, three others, Rajan Nair, Shubham Dahibhate, and Jatin Kadam, have been arrested. Police are searching for four more suspects believed to be part of the same network.
Investigators have traced nearly 300 drug transactions over the past few months, suggesting a well-organized and expanding racket. The crime branch is now conducting a deeper probe to identify the full network and supply chain.
“During the investigation of a missing complaint, the accused was traced. Two packets of MD were recovered from his house. He had been supplying drugs to multiple individuals, with nearly 300 transactions identified in a few months. This points to a larger racket, and further investigation is ongoing,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police Sambhaji Kadam.
