Pune: Drunk School Bus Driver Hits Two-Wheelers, Car in Wagholi; Arrested

Incident on Baif Road; Bus Carrying 30–40 Students, No Injuries Reported; Police arrested the driver and registered a case

Pune, 29 January 2026: A drunk school bus driver collided with four two-wheelers and a car on Baif Road in Wagholi around 2:45 pm on Wednesday, creating panic in the area. The bus, which belonged to Indo-Scot Global School, was carrying around 30 to 40 students at the time of the incident.

According to the police, the bus had just left the school to drop students home when the driver lost control and hit a car and three parked two-wheelers along the roadside. The two-wheelers were dragged for some distance, prompting residents to shout and chase the bus. The vehicle was eventually forced to stop by local citizens.

Fortunately, no students or pedestrians were injured in the incident. However, the driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Angry residents confronted him, and a brief commotion broke out at the spot before police arrived.

The accused driver has been identified as Batta Vasant Rasal (50), a resident of Wagholi. A complaint was filed by police constable Prashant Bhagwan Dhumal (36), following which a case was registered and the driver was arrested.

Police said further investigation is ongoing to determine lapses and ensure strict action in the interest of student safety.
