Pune, 4th December 2025: The Pune Police on Wednesday arrested Sheetal Tejwani, the prime accused in the Mundhwa government land fraud case. She will be produced before the court on Thursday.
The case involves nearly 40 acres of land in Mundhwa owned by the Botanical Survey of India. A few months ago, authorities uncovered that this land was allegedly put up for sale for around ₹300 crore.
The land deal reportedly involved Amedia Enterprises, a company in which Parth Pawar, son of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, is a partner. Documents indicate that Tejwani carried out a transaction with Amedia despite multiple legal restrictions related to the land.
Tejwani was called for questioning at the Pune Police Commissioner’s office for the second time today. After the inquiry, she was taken into custody.
Investigators found that in 2006 Tejwani tried to get the land transferred to her name by paying several of the 272 original landholders. She also filed applications three times with the Pune revenue and registration departments. However, the land could not be registered because it legally belongs to the Maharashtra government.
Despite this, authorities discovered that in 2025 she managed to complete a document registration by paying a nominal stamp duty of ₹11,000. She later executed a private transaction for the same government land with Amedia Enterprises.
To investigate the suspected violations, the state government has formed a special committee headed by Additional Revenue Secretary Vikas Kharge. The registration department has submitted its report, while the revenue and land records departments are still preparing theirs. The final consolidated report is expected in the first week of December.
